Carl predicts his Giants will issue a Beantown Beatdown this Sunday.

Well I called it. The New York Football Giants went into Lambeau and played one of the most exciting football games of all time and came out victorious.

Its funny how little respect this team gets but it has helped them win all season and nothing will be different the next 2 weeks when every ‘expert’ picks the Patriots to win. But the great thing about this Giants team is they seem to be a careless cool gang that doesn’t care about what people say about them, and that’s exactly the kind of mentality that will make them play better than anyone will expect them to do so in Arizona.

The legend of Eli Manning keeps on growing and it’s funny to see writers and tv personalities suddenly turn their views on him and pretend they always thought he was a great QB. The fact of the matter is that Eli has been very good since his first day, and he’s handles the pressure and the BS from the media better than anyone would have. Now he’s the toast of the town and if he wins this next one, his name will be remembered with the legends of New York sports forever.

I’ll be updating this blog daily the next 2 weeks previewing the Super Bowl matchup but I just wanted to link to this article by Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports, which talks about the New York vs Boston rivalry and how this game is bigger than anyone thinks. The fact that if the Giants beat 1 win away from being undefeated Patriots, it will go down as the biggest upset of all time and take away the hurt from the ‘04 ALCS and tilt the recent rivalry.

Well I went 3 for 4 with my picks last week. Who would of thought the defending champs would have laid an egg at home against a weaker team, but I guess that’s why they play the game. Unto my picks this week…

Sunday, Jan. 20, 3 pm San Diego Chargers at New England Patriots CBS
Every inch of my body wants the Patriots to lose and San Diego is capable of doing it. But God hates us all this year and has kept them undefeated so far and I don’t see that changing this Sunday. So unfortunately I’ll take the Pats in a close one but hopefully we see a fight break out between Phillip Rivers and some douche bag Masshole.

Sunday, Jan. 20, 6:30 pm New York Giants at Green Bay Packers FOX
What a scene it will be at the frozen tundra at snowy Lambeau Field. I have thought about this game long and hard and I just can’t figure out what advantage one of the teams will have on the other because they stack up against eachother so well. Destiny tells me that Favre will make it to the Super Bowl plus they are playing at home. But the Giants are playing better than anyone right now and I don’t see why it will end this Sunday, so I’m gonna take the Giants in a very close most likely an instant classic game.

What many people call the best weekend of the NFL season, will give us some juicy matchups, and here are my predictions.

Saturday, Jan. 12, 4:30 pm Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers FOX
I do not see Seattle going up to Green Bay and giving them a hard time. I think the Packers win this one decisively.

Saturday, Jan. 12, 8 pm Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots CBS
My gut feelings say take the Jags but my brain says take the Patriots and I just think we’re headed for the inevitable Pats/Colts Championship game.

Sunday, Jan. 13, 1 pm San Diego Chargers at Indianapolis Colts CBS
This is probably the easiest one to pick since the Colts are just a machine right now and the Chargers are so inconsistent and I don’t see Rivers figuring out that Indy D.

Sunday, Jan. 13, 4:30 pm New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys FOX
This might turn out to be the best game of the week and with all the history between these 2 teams, this is the first time they will meet in the playoffs. Look for this to be a shootout in the desert and I’m taking the G-Men to pull the upset.

Apparently SI.com was not really impressed with the San Diego Chargers win over the Tennessee Titans today, so they elected to run this poll.
So even when he wins, Norv Turner can’t seem to catch a break in the playoffs.
