So it looks like ESPN is launching ESPNNewsHD on March 30th and from looks of the screen shots that have been released, it going to be fantastic. From the official Press Release:

ESPN will launch its third HD service on March 30, 2008, when ESPNEWS begins telecasting in high definition. The shift to HD will enable ESPNEWS to make the most of the 16 x 9 high-definition television viewing area, offering fans an enhanced viewing experience. ESPNEWS HD will also afford new graphic sponsorship placement opportunities for advertisers.

ESPN’s innovative new HD Sideline graphic, which will debut on ESPNEWS HD, will wrap around the top, left and bottom of the HD screen. The HD Sideline will offer the display of textual information, headshots, news, and scores, while still delivering a window to accommodate all video highlights in 16×9 HD. It will also offer additional content not available on ESPNEWS SD, which will also contain a redesigned bottom line graphic. NFL Replay will re-air the Giants victory over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII in a fast-paced 90-minute format on NFL Network Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 8:30 PM ET.

Encore episodes of the Super Bowl XLII Replay will air as follows:
Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 12:00 Midnight ET
Thursday, Feb. 7 at 1:00 p.m. ET and 5:00 p.m. ET
Saturday, Feb. 9 at 4:30 p.m. ET and 9:00 p.m. ET
Sunday, Feb. 10 at 11:00 p.m. ET and 12:30 p.m. ET

The telecast was the most-watched Super Bowl in history, with 97.5 million viewers. A record 148.3 million total viewers tuned into the game.

The 97.5 million viewers makes the Giants’ 17-14 defeat of the Patriots the second-most watched television broadcast in American history, short of only the 106 million viewers who tuned into the series finale of M*A*S*H in 1983. While the Super Bowl fell short of the record set by M*A*S*H, the game matched the 106 million viewer mark during the 9:30 PM half hour when Manning drove the Giants down the field to win the game.

Most watched Super Bowls.
97.5 million: XLII, Giants/Patriots (2/3/08 FOX)
94.1 million: XXX, Cowboys/Steelers (1/28/96 NBC)
93.2 million: XLI, Colts/Bears (2/4/07 CBS)
